Our Calligraphy Guild "Playdate" Meeting - featuring Sherry Woolgar

Dear Sherry! She made our night offering to share her knowledge about painting on Arches Black Cover with Bleach. We used automatic pens, dip pens, reeds, brushes, doll-house shingles, to apply the bleach to our paper. Then we added colour by applying washes of Chalk pastel. I love the look you get when this project is done.

I couldn't resist trying a few things:
Splattering
Drawing in shapes
Writing in shapes
Adding glitter with gelly roller pens

I also wanted to try some of the other mediums I have in my studio!

I know I'll have a lot of joy working with these tools more!

Here's what I came away with!

Oh, and of course, thanks goes to Judy Melvin for teaching Sherry and Bev how this works at the ABC Calligraphy Conference in Red Deer last August. We all want to buy Judy's book now!

Happy Creating!

Paintings in the New Tumbleweed Coffee House - Nanton

My dear friends Leslie and Dave opened a new coffee house in Nanton, Alberta, on March 12. Leslie asked if I would like to put some of my work in there, and I said I was delighted to.

If you were ever looking for a reason to take a little road trip, a drive down to their coffee shop in Nanton would be a good reason to head out of town.

Here are a few photo's I have taken from their shop, as well as a few shots of the view heading down there.

Enjoy!

Strathmore Online Workshop

http://www.strathmoreartiststudio.com/group/workshop2

Today I started Week 2's class that Lynn is teaching! If you join me, please post a link to your blog and show me what you've created!!!!

Note: I am not sure why my links will not come up where you can click on them. I have tried the link feature on blogger, but when I post it, the link doesn't even show up! So, just copy and paste the above url and visit the site that way.

Can it be....... SPRING?!!!!

Oh! I do so love chinooks! Today, it got up to a wonderful +8C, and I did some errands with a vest on, but just t-shirt sleeves. If this keeps up, I will be less desperate to leave to go somewhere warm! I can almost hear the robins now!!!!

In the meantime, next weekend the Gallery will be hosting a theme show called, "The Theme is Green". Today I picked up two different bouquets that hopefully will inspire me to capture their wonderful spring essence on paper. A bouquet of white stargazer lilies, and a mixed bunch featuring hydrangea (purple) and a type of allium flower. Combine that with white daisies, carnations and mini green mums, and ta-dah! Beauty. We'll see if my muse is with me in the next couple of days.

I'll try to post my works in progress.

In the meantime, it's back to catching up on my Strathmore Papers Journaling class. Lynn Blinn is the guest instructor this month, and I am really enjoying her ideas!

Here's a link to the free workshops that Strathmore Papers is hosting:

Ok, it's time for me to go and "create". Hope you are working on something interesting as well!
