So much has changed......

So Much has changed since I last posted here!

Who would have known that shortly after my last post, our little town would have been hit with a damaging amount of water.  The flood of 2013 will always be remembered as a big life-changing event in the history of this town, and to those who experienced it.

Our gallery and home were hit hard by that wall of water, and even today not everything has been repaired.  Slowly, slowly, the town is rebuilding.  "They" say that it will take 5 years before things are running as before.  We are only a year and a half into that 5 years.  I have had to learn a lot more about patience, and thinking sideways.  I've also learned to be more present to the moments in front of me.

I'm excited today about the big event coming up this weekend.  My friend and I will be painting on-stage at the Empress Theatre in Fort Macleod for an ALS Fundraiser.  "Songs for Ken", a project of love for John Wort Hannam, is a fund raiser to help raise money for the society that may some day find a way to put an end to this disease.  Here's a link to the event.

This week I will attempt to give myself 2 hours to try and successfully complete a painting, 48" x 48" in acrylic.  I need to practice as I don't usually work in this medium, and certainly not this size!

Wish me luck!

If you would like to hear the song John wrote for his friend Ken, "Hello My Beautiful Friend", you can find it here:

This week let your beautiful friends know how much they mean to you.....

Spring is here, blossoms are blooming and we are in the midst of a new Gallery adventure!

Greetings everyone!

It's been quite the April,....actually it's been quite the year!  I would never have thought at the beginning of last month that we would be moving next door to Art and Soul Studio/Gallery and opening Art and Soul Gallery!

We have decided to use the space we share with friends.  It has been sitting without full term tenants since last August so we thought we would take the opportunity to move our collective gallery there.

And so it is with mixed feelings that we say goodbye to our space at Gallery 109 on 4th Avenue!  It was a great year, a great space and we will certainly miss our neighbours there!

On June 1st, however, I know I will be equally excited to share the new Art and Soul Gallery with our friends and customers.

All the details are on the new website that I am attaching!

We are still talking to some more artists about joining us, and we have begun the work of painting interior spaces and getting the grounds all perky for spring and summer!  We look forward to using the outdoor spaces here as well, so keep your eyes open for some "outdoor" shows as well!

Can't wait to see you there!

Do come for our opening, if you can, and bring a friend!

Happy spring.....

Annie

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

And winter seems to be back again.  It's been a long time since I have made an entry and thought it was high time to let you know what is new around here!

This year started off with me joining some friends and making a trek down to San Jose Del Cabo, (Baja Penninsula) for a month-long art trip.  I really enjoyed attending the Thursday Art walks, meeting lots of artists,  locals and Canadians!  There was lots of time to do some painting, exploring, beach walking, ....and more painting.

And now I am back, and this past week I was a guest playdate teacher for our local calligraphy guild, High River United Calligraphers,  and a guest teacher for our local school's Activity Day.  Last night I attended a wonderful Student Art Show here in town, and today I sat at Gallery 109.  It's hard to believe that that began almost a year ago.  It's been a busy month so far!

If you haven't been down to Gallery 109 yet, do come by when the weather gets nicer and visit us!  We are open Wednesday to Saturday from noon to 5:00 pm, and Sunday from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.  Soon we will be going back to our summer hours (open on Mondays and Tuesdays again)

The address of the gallery is:
109 - 4th Avenue SW
High River, Alberta

We would LOVE to see you there!

In the meantime I am about to announce some new courses (workshops) and my Open Studio Days.  For more information you can check in at my new website below.

I'll get back here soon and post some new paintings and announce some upcoming events!

Here's to living a creative life!

Cheers.

Annie
